Bouldering for beginners

The goal of the course is to equip you with the knowledge and confidence to enjoy bouldering independently and safely, with the primary emphasis being safety, make progress on your climbs, and obtain the necessary background to help you improve your skills in the future. In this bouldering course, you’ll learn essential skills such as the necessary safety measures in a bouldering gym, gym etiquette, proper warm-up techniques to reduce the risk of injury, how to navigate bouldering problems in the gym, and basic climbing techniques.
Our internationally-certified and experienced instructors will guide you through the fundamentals of bouldering in a fun and supportive environment. No experience is necessary—just bring your energy and a willingness to learn.

Course contents
- Introduction to Bouldering
- Overview of bouldering and its differences from traditional rock climbing
- Basic bouldering terminology (e.g., problems, holds, crimps, slopers, etc.)
- Bouldering gym grading
- Safety Essentials
- Importance of warm-up and cool-down
- Bouldering gym etiquette (respecting others, sharing walls, etc.)
- Spotting techniques for safety during falls
- Understanding fall zones and impact surfaces
- Essential Gear
- Introduction to climbing shoes and their fit
- Chalk and its role in maintaining grip
- Basic Techniques
- Understanding body positioning (center of gravity, balance, etc.)
- Footwork fundamentals (precise stepping, hand-body-feet coordination)
- Use of handholds and footholds for efficient movement
All these will be combined with practical exercises and lots and lots of bouldering and fun.
Organization and Communication
We will send you a confirmation email after you registered (please check your spam folder). Several days before the offer begins, we will reach out to you and all other participants to coordinate travel plans and, if necessary, discuss options if the minimum number of participants has not been met. We will finalize details such as the meeting point, equipment, travel, and other organizational information.
Material needed
For this course you should wear normal sports clothing. We would advise you to also rent a pair of climbing shoes (you can rent them in the bouldering gym) which will make for a better bouldering experience. If you wear your own sport shoes, please only use indoor and clean ones.
