Chulilla is one of Spain’s most iconic sport climbing destinations, located in the Valencia region, around an hour from Valencia city. With mild winters, plenty of sunshine, and reliable conditions throughout much of the year, Chulilla has become a favourite destination for climbers from around the world.
Climbing is what defines Chulilla. The area offers well over 2,000 well-bolted sport routes across hundreds of sectors, with climbing for every level but mostly starting from 6a. From technical vertical walls and delicate slabs to long, pumpy endurance routes on perfect limestone, there is something to challenge and inspire every climber.
Most climbing sectors are reached via scenic approaches of between 5 and 30 minutes, allowing you to spend more time on the rock and less time hiking. We’ll help you choose the sectors that best suit your level, goals, and the weather, so every climbing day is as enjoyable as possible.
On rest days, there’s plenty to explore. Wander through Chulilla’s charming old streets, hike the famous Hanging Bridges and the Turia Canyon, relax at one of the nearby viewpoints, or enjoy a long lunch in the village square. If you feel like venturing further, Valencia’s beaches, culture, and vibrant atmosphere are just a short drive away.
Chulilla is the perfect destination for climbers looking to combine outstanding limestone climbing with authentic Spanish village life. Whether you’re here to improve your climbing, enjoy a week outdoors with friends, or simply slow down and disconnect, you’ll find the ideal balance of adventure, relaxation, and unforgettable scenery.
Our job is to provide you with an exceptional experience. Yours is simply to enjoy every moment.
Trip contents:
Day 1 – Arrival & Briefing
Flight from Luxembourg to Valencia (ca. 08:00 arrival). Drive together to Chulilla (1h).
Easy arrival, maybe a short hike, with a welcome briefing and planning for the next day.
Day 2 – Climbing
Explore some of the iconic single-pitch routes of Chulilla.
Day 3 – Climbing
Limestone sport climbing – routes adapted to group level. Single pitch or multi-pitch depending on group and interest.
Day 4 – Rest Day
Optional hike or beach time around Valencia.
⚠ Note: If any rest-day activity (e.g. boat trip) has additional costs, these are not included in the trip price.
Day 5 to 7 – Climbing
More climbing, possibly multi-pitch depending on the group.
Day 8 – Departure
Short activities possible (beach, walk, coffee with a view, climbing), then flight home (around 19.20).
Each day includes practical, in-the-field learning, allowing you to apply new skills on actual lead routes under the guidance of experienced instructors. We are there to supervise, teach, and show you the nicest routes. Planning is subject to weather and the group. We are generally available to guide eight hours a day. On rest days we provide transport to reasonably-located areas.
Independent vs guided participants
We offer two different prices depending on whether you are independent participant or one that needs guiding. An independent participant will benefit from the accomodation, food, local travel, but will receive only minor guiding instructions. This means that we will suggest climbing areas or routes, help with the local travel, but we will not supervise your climbing.
In contrast, the guided participants receive our full attention. We will supervise your climbing, give tips and tricks, provide in-field teaching in order to help you progress towards becoming an independent climber, put up the topropes for you, and if possible, take you on multi-pitch adventures.
Requirements for being an independent climber:
- you can safely lead and belay outdoors yourself
- you are able to climb independently
- you are able to evaluate the safety aspects of a climb
An independent climber is responsible for his or her own safety and HiFive insurance will not be responsible if an independent climber has an accident during an unsupervised climb.
Organization and Communication
We will send you a confirmation email after you registered (please check your spam folder). After the booking deadline, we will reach out to you and all other participants to coordinate travel plans and, if necessary, discuss options if the minimum number of participants has not been met. We will finalize details such as the meeting point, equipment, travel, and other organizational information.
