Your first steps
outdoor climbing.

Our objective for this week is to help you on your first steps outdoor sport climbing. Your guides will provide expert guidance, teaching essential safety techniques, provide professional supervision and personalised advice.

If you’re using the trip as Bildungsurlaub, we’ll add a structured programme exploring teamwork & trust, risk & crisis management, and dealing with fear & stress.

You choose how much you want to get out of the trip.

Two ways to experience the trip

Just here to climb? Relax and enjoy.

This is your holiday.

Take your first steps outdoor climbing, discover the different sectors of the Bonistock, spend time in the mountains and enjoy the Swiss Alpine atmosphere.

Depending on your experience and goals, we’ll help you find suitable routes and climbing partners. There is no obligation to take part in the additional educational activities.

You can simply focus on what you came for: Climbing. Learning. Mountains.

Joining us as Bildungsurlaub? Add an educational dimension.

For participants who want to use the trip as Bildungsurlaub / Bildungszeit, we offer an additional programme alongside the climbing. The climbing environment becomes a practical setting for exploring skills that are relevant far beyond the rock face. The additional programme focuses on three main areas: teamwork & trust, risk and crisis management, and dealing with fear and stress.

Day 6 – Departure
After a relaxed morning where you can still enjoy a hike around the area, or simply take in the wonderful panorama, we make our way back to the parking. We plan to finish around 1400.

For a more detailed program in case you are participating through the educational leave (Bildungsurlaub), please take a look below. Each day includes practical, in-the-field learning, allowing you to apply new skills on actual lead routes under the guidance of experienced instructors. We are there to supervisor, to teach you, and to show you the nicest routes. Planning is subject to weather and the group. We are generally available to guide eight hours a day. On rest days we provide transport to reasonably-located areas.

Accommodation:

We will stay at the Bärghuis Frutt.
It is a hut, so accomodation is shared in bunk beds. Breakfast and dinner is provided.
You will have to bring a liner or a small sleeping bag.

How to get there:

Car pooling among participants, or you make your own way there by private or public transport. The lifts are still closed around this time, but we will provide a shuttel service for those that do not want to hike up. We meet at the Parking Stöckalp.

Independent vs guided participants

We offer two different prices depending on whether you are independent participant or one that needs guiding. An independent participant will benefit from the accomodation, food, local travel, but will receive only minor guiding instructions. This means that we will suggest climbing areas or routes, help with the local travel, but we will not supervise your climbing. Independent participants must be able to lead and belay safely outdoors and assess the safety of their own climbs, independently of the group. During independent climbing, participants are responsible for their own climbing decisions and safety.

If you’d prefer professional supervision and coaching, choose the Guided option. The guided participants receive our full attention. We will supervise your climbing, give tips and tricks, provide in-field teaching in order to help you progress towards becoming an independent climber, put up the topropes for you, and if possible, take you on multi-pitch adventures.

Requirements for being an independent climber:

  • you can safely lead and belay outdoors yourself
  • you are able to climb independently
  • you are able to evaluate the safety aspects of a climb

The minimum number of independent climbers is two. If there is only one independent climber in the group, the guided tariff will apply, provided the participant has been informed in advance and has given their consent.

Organization and Communication

We will send you a confirmation email after you registered (please check your spam folder). After the booking deadline, we will reach out to you and all other participants to coordinate travel plans and, if necessary, discuss options if the minimum number of participants has not been met. We will finalize details such as the meeting point, equipment, travel, and other organizational information.

Bildungsurlaub

Use your legal right to educational leave (Bildungsurlaub): In our officially recognized week-long courses, you will develop your teamwork & trust, risk and crisis management, dealing with fear and stress, and learn responsible behavior on the rock— with full salary continuation. Ideal for anyone looking to expand their skills and contribute more confidently and competently to clubs or volunteer work.

Valid for: Rhineland-Palatinate, Saarland, and Luxembourg.
