Dealing with fear in climbing

This three-part course is aimed at all climbers who want to deal intensively with the topic of fear. Fear in climbing has many facets and often prevents climbers from reaching their full potential.

The aim of the course is to develop a deeper understanding of fear reactions and to develop strategies for dealing with them. In addition to theoretical content, the focus is also on practical exercises.

Our internationally-certified and experienced instructors will guide you through the fundamental techniques in a fun and supportive environment. You should have expierence with lead climbing at around 6a or above, and would like to learn how to push your grades further.

Course contents

  • Understanding and Evaluating Risks in Climbing: Recognizing and assessing the risks in climbing, such as falls, gear failure, and environmental factors, is crucial for ensuring safety and making informed decisions.
  • Learning Mental Techniques for Dealing with Fear: We provide you with mental techniques to help you understand and manage fear and maintain focus.
  • Learning and Practicing Dynamic Belaying: Dynamic belaying involves managing slack and anticipating a climber’s movements to reduce fall impact and ensure a safe and responsive belay.
  • Learning and Practicing Correct Falling: Proper falling techniques minimize the risk of injury when falling during climbing.

Each session includes practical, in-the-field learning, allowing you to apply new skills on actual lead routes under the guidance of experienced instructors.
