Outdoor lead climbing for intermediates

You have some limited experience with lead climbing outdoors but are not yet 100% sure you are doing everything correctly? Do you still feel a bit insecure? Did you maybe take our course “Outdoor lead climbing for beginners” and would like to gain more experience? Then this course is perfect for you.

This course will be held either at Audun-le-Tiche, France (15 min drive from Luxembourg city), Gerolstein, Germany (1,5h drive from Luxembourg city) or Freyr, Belgium (1,5h drive from Luxembourg). Designed for those who have a basic understanding of outdoor lead climbing, and are eager to gain more experience and more advanced tips.

This hands-on course will help you gain further experience under the guiding hands of our instructurs and provide you with further confidence and skills to improve your lead climbing outdoors in a safe, controlled, and enjoyable way.

Prerequisites: A basic understanding outdoor lead climbing.

The course includes:

  • Quick revisions of outdoor lead climbing, especially the safety aspects of belaying, clipping and rope management
  • Outdoor lead climbing techniques: Gain practical experience leading routes that fit your level, with guidance on movement, route reading, and mental focus
  • Risk management: improve your risk management while leading outdoors, including falls, protection placements, and anchor safety

This course is perfect for climbers who have some limited outdoor lead climbing experience and are willing to improve further under the guidance of professional instructors. By the end of the day, you’ll have improved your skills, knowledge, and confidence for leading outdoor routes safely.

Bad weather policy

In case of bad weather we generally have two options:
1) Change the course location. As alternatives we would then offer Gerolstein, Pfalz or Freyr. All areas are maximum two hours drive away from Luxembourg.
2) As stated in our General Terms of Conditions, the organizer reserves the right to terminate the contract if, before the start of the course/excursion, the weather conditions cannot guarantee that the course/excursion can be carried out safely. The customer will then be refunded the price for services not received.

Organization and Communication

We will send you a confirmation email after you registered (please check your spam folder). Several days before the offer begins, we will reach out to you and all other participants to coordinate travel plans and, if necessary, discuss options if the minimum number of participants has not been met. We will finalize details such as the meeting point, equipment, travel, and other organizational information.

Material needed

For this course you should have your own bouldering equipment. Bouldering mats can be provided free of charge by HiFive.

Conducting the course with fewer than the minimum number of participants

For an additional fee (see “Offer costs”), the course will still take place even if there are fewer than the minimum number of participants. You can choose this option when registering if desired.
